The Thalian Theatre Group |
Can you Help?
The Thalian Theatre Group would like to borrow a set of bagpipes to use as a prop in their latest play, Brendan Behan’s “The Hostage” at the Towngate Theatre, 21st to 23rd January 2010.
The bagpipes do not have to be in pristine condition as both the character who plays them, the old Irish warhorse Monsewer and the brothel in which he lives, are more than a little the worse for wear. The Thalians will take good care of the bagpipes and are happy to collect and return them to their owner. Irish Uilleann pipes would be most appropriate to the play, but due to their rarity, Scottish bagpipes will more than do. The music will be pre-recorded so the pipes do not have to be playable. The bagpipes are needed for rehearsals now and until the end of the play at the end of January 2010.
There will be 4 free tickets for a performance of The Hostage in thanks for the helpful reader/listener who can loan the Thalians a set of bagpipes.
Please phone Mike on 01268 417854 if you can help. |

Time of My Life - by Alan Ayckbourn
Dates - March 18-20.
At - Theydon Bois Village Hall, Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, Essex Performances start at 8.00 pm. Tickets - £6.50. Box office - Mr and Mrs James - 01992 812250.
It's a bitter-sweet comedy about a family that has to cope with a devastating event that changes all their lives. Set in a restaurant, it's one of Ayckbourn's most ingeniously constructed plays. We meet Gerry and Laura, their sons Glyn and Adam and their partners as they celebrate Laura's birthday. The play subsequently follows the relationships of the three couples, moving both forwards and backwards in time. There are plenty of laughs but a few tears as well as the family reacts to a tragic accident that occurs after the dinner party.
