Life on Mars Series 1

Sam Tyler
struggles with a case in 2006 and is then involved in an accident. Instead of waking up in hospital, Sam wakes up in 1973 - with flares, boots, sideburns and a boss who doesn't play by the rules. Imagine Taggart meets The Sweeney and you're halfway there - except it's set in Manchester.
This compelling first series of the BBC drama is now available to buy
as the second series hits our screens. Has Sam been sent back in time for a reason? Is he really in a coma? We' re promised answers to all these questions but in true 'Prisoner' style we're denied the definitive answer and made to guess. Great performances from Philip Glenister as Sam's boss, DCI Gene Hunt - a sort of Jack Regan but without a heart - and John Simm as Sam Tyler. Don't miss this truly great series and, of course, the music is a bonus.
