Wivenhoe May Fair 2008
12 – 6pm Bank Holiday Monday 26 May 2008
About the event
The Wivenhoe May Fair is a community-based festival, run by volunteers of all ages, that supports local music, crafts and performing arts and raises money for local, national and international charities. In the last 4 years the event has raised nearly £8000 for charity. It started as a peace festival 25 years ago and still aims to follow that ideal as well as promoting green, organic and sustainable lifestyles.
What to look forward to in 2008
The main stage and acoustic stage will showcase some of the regions best bands and musicians and new activities are planned, including a comedy and spoken word stage, open air theatre and a healing area, where visitors can experience a range of alternative therapies. And, of course, there will be stalls galore, a beer tent, circus acts, drum workshops from Drumz Kool, face painting, kid’s activities and a wide choice of food available. Entrance will be free but donations are requested for charity.
Travelling to Wivenhoe
Unfortunately there will be no trains to Wivenhoe running on the day but there will be a rail replacement bus service operating. First Group bus service will operate a Sunday service. There are no dedicated car parking facilities so please try to leave the car at home.
Getting involved
Everybody involved in the May Fair is a volunteer, including all the musicians and artistes, and they all give their time and effort for free to make this such a special event. If you would like to help with the event or your business can offer its services please get in contact through our website.
